The Johnstone-based charity, which runs several community activities and groups across Renfrewshire, has launched its colorful new logo.

Earlier this year, Active Communities won a spot in the 2021 Brand for Growth program, run annually by Community Enterprise, supported by the Scottish Government’s Third Sector Division and offered by Bold Studio, a specialist in ethical brands.

Since then, staff, volunteers and members have worked with Bold Studio on a revitalized brand for Active Communities.

It comes as the charity enters the final stages of taking over the old Johnstone Police Station and transforming it into a vibrant and welcoming new community center – called Station 7, which is slated to open early. next spring.

Active Communities CEO Susan McDonald said, “Our new building and new vision have inspired us to develop a new brand that will tell the story of our journey, our building and our ambition to connect and bring positive change to our communities.

“This marks a pivotal moment as we move towards taking possession of our new home in the old Johnstone Police Station.

As part of the development project, Bold Studios staff virtually met with Active Communities staff, volunteers and partners where they posed the question “What does Active Communities mean to you?” “

He concluded that the charity, its staff and volunteers value teamwork and action, strive for excellence and are trustworthy. The group also inspires and influences people, has no barriers to involving people, and is optimistic and helps find the good side for people while being the good side for people.

The theme has been woven together and the new logo aims to show the connections made by active communities.

Susan added, “The concept of this brand is ‘Weaving Together’. The logo features a pegboard with coiled wire, taking ideas from Renfrewshire history and combining it with our ethic of connection. It’s a vibrant, vibrant logo that truly represents us as an organization.

“We wanted a vibrant and bold brand with vibrant, active colors to reflect who we are. “

Active Communities took over the old Johnstone Police Station in 2018 and plans to open Station 7 in early spring 2022.

He runs several community groups including Jogging Buddies, Buggy Buddies, Bike Buddies, a youth cafe, wellness programs, and friendship services.
