Catherine, who started her business Catherine Davis Designs seven years ago, is an artist, designer of textiles and surface patterns based in Calderdale.

Under normal circumstances, she works with manufacturers and suppliers from as far away as China to create commercial and trend-oriented collections. Catherine also produces watercolor, pen & ink and digital illustrations and has been commissioned to produce greeting cards for a number of local businesses.

Like so many others, Catherine has adapted her offer due to the pandemic. During the first lockdown, she created coloring sheets that people could download from her website for free, to complete and then display in their window in support of the NHS. The idea took off and after people shared photos of their kids filling them out, she decided to donate a different sheet each month with local landmarks such as Piece Hall and Stoodley Pike.

At Christmas, Catherine was commissioned to paint illustrations of houses as a gift, but although she loved her job, she felt she could give it a unique touch. So she went back to the drawing board – or the computer, to be precise – and came up with a digital illustration to celebrate the transformation of a house into a house.

Her illustrations use a color palette to match the decor of the client’s home. It can even include a pet sitting on the doormat or looking out the window, along with a name and address.

Catherine said: “Usually I worked on an eclectic range of products for my clients, from luggage and bedding to rugs, art prints, housewares or stationery. I work with my clients’ brands to create designs based on their own client profiles and trends, as well as licensing work directly with suppliers or through an agent.

“But like so many others, the pandemic has meant that I have adapted what I do. I loved the commissions I got over Christmas, but there are a lot of amazing artists who paint beautiful homes. for the customers.

“I wanted to offer something in my own style, a little quirky and in fun color palettes and patterns, to make a house a home. The result is a unique, bespoke illustration for birthdays, a new home, anniversaries, a wedding gift, or a gift just for yourself. It’s also great for businesses that take pride in their amazing premises.

The illustrations of Catherine’s House cost £ 95 each and are digitally created so can be downloaded after purchase, making them an ideal gift. To purchase an illustration, please visit www.catherinedavisdesigns.com.

Free coloring sheets are available for download on Catherine’s Facebook page @CDdesignsUK. The latest is an Art Nouveau coloring sheet.
