Healthy Yancey offers a new version of the 6e season of the Sizzlin ‘Summer Series, the physical activity campaign that offers a variety of fun, family-friendly opportunities to stay active during the summer. Healthy Yancey, a coalition organized with the support of Partners Aligned Toward Health (PATH), created the Sizzlin ‘Summer Series with a mission to increase connections among community members, promote physical activity and promote highlight the fun opportunities to play and be active in our community.
This year, Sizzlin ‘Summer Series participants can enjoy various activities across the community at their own pace by joining the BINGO Challenge. The goal of the BINGO Challenge is to keep families active during the summer by encouraging them to explore all the exciting things to do in Mitchell and Yancey counties. Each square in the game highlights a different place or activity in the two-county area, which families can enjoy in different ways. For example, complete a square by having a picnic, eating at a local restaurant, or visiting the Carolina Hemlocks.
There are two ways that participants can play the Sizzlin ‘Summer BINGO Challenge: Get BINGO by completing all the boxes in a row to enter a draw for a $ 50 gift card (rows can be completed vertically, horizontally or diagonally ) – OR – COMPLETE the entire card to participate in the draw for a $ 100 gift card.
A downloadable Sizzlin ‘Summer BINGO Challenge card, instructions on how to play, and helpful links are available at https://bit.ly/sizzlin_summer_bingo, or Partners Aligned Toward Health’s Facebook and Instagram pages. The BINGO Challenge will run from June 23 to August 31, 2021. Additional suggestions for completing the squares will be posted on Partners Aligned Toward Health’s Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the summer.
Many community partners come together every year to make the Sizzlin ‘Summer Series a success. Continuation of the program would not be possible without funders such as the WNC Bridge Foundation and the Mountain Community Health Partnership.
