Medication recovery event

Oct. 28 – 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Cranston Police Department, Cranston Substance Abuse Task Force and our RSVP Division are hosting this event. The Addiction Task Force will be available to assist with the proper disposal of medications. Acceptable items: unused, unused or expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and inhalers. Objects not accepted: sharp objects, liquid medicines and vials of insulin.

Halloween Special

“Costume Contest”

October 31 – 11 a.m.

You are invited to join us before lunch in the dining room for a costume contest. A prize will be awarded to the member with the “best costume” — our senior center staff will be the judge. It should be a lot of fun!

Get ahead of Alzheimer’s disease!

Nov. 1 – 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Memory and Aging program at Butler Hospital is looking for people between the ages of 55 and 80 who do not yet have symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, but who are interested in participating in a clinical trial to prevent memory problems in the future. To learn more about this AHEAD study, join us at the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center for an informative presentation.

Skin conditions in the elderly

November 2 – 10 a.m.

URI Pharmacy Outreach Program

An overview of various skin conditions such as dry skin, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Treatments, including prescription and over-the-counter medications currently used to treat these conditions, will be discussed.

Intermediate night course in the ballroom

Wednesdays, Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 30 – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Four week series for $40 per person

URI SNAP proximity clinic

“Additional Nutritional Assistance Program”

Nov. 3 – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

If you have questions about your SNAP application, want to apply for SNAP, or have received correspondence from the SNAP office that you don’t understand, then this clinic is for you! First come, first served.

Vision Group

November 4 – 10 a.m.

Facilitators: IN-SIGHT staff

Do you live with visual impairment or support someone who is? An IN-SIGHT staff member will provide information about resources available to help people cope with vision loss and answer any questions you may have. The VISION Group is also a great opportunity to share your story, hear about the journeys of others living with vision loss, and exchange information and support. Contact Lucille Gaboriault at 401-941-3322, ext. 121 for details. Registration is not compulsory. Everyone is welcome!
